Moin!
Lasse Frobese is a Berlin-based cinematographer and graduate of Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF, where he completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in cinematography. His work is rooted in narrative filmmaking and shaped by a strong interest in the relationship between story, light, and technologies. In his Master’s thesis, “Von der Engine auf den Sensor – Die Reise des Lichts im Virtual Production Studio,” he explored the role of light in virtual production workflows. For Lasse, though, technology is never the point in itself. It should always serve the story. This approach also shaped KRUSTE, his graduation film, which received the Silver Student Academy Award and was shortlisted for the 97th Academy Awards. Alongside narrative work, he sees music videos as a space for experimentation, most notably in the realization of CAPTCHA for "Von Wegen Lisbeth". Whether working with established cinematic tools or unconventional imaging systems, he is interested in honest visual solutions shaped by craft, collaboration, and a clear focus on what a story needs.
